Welcome!
Marina Vista Pickleball is an open, welcoming group of people who love the game of pickleball. Organized in 2021 by Jacquelyn Jones, MVP has grown into a volunteer-led group. We play at Marina Vista Park in Long Beach on eight courts (dual-lined for pickleball and tennis).
All levels of players are welcome. However, if you are a beginner, before joining open play, we recommend you attend our newbies group on Tuesdays and Thursdays to learn the game (rules, court etiquette, skills, strategy, and more).
Participation in both Open Play and Newbies Lessons is free.
We look forward to seeing you on the courts. Let’s play pickleball!
Recreational Open Play

MVP has organized competitive open play on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Beginner Lessons

At MVP, we welcome newcomers. Volunteers run twice-weekly sessions to teach new players the rules, skills, and strategies needed to become proficient at pickleball. New sessions start every Thursday. Please arrive by 8:30 a.m. to sign up and participate. For existing students, ongoing sessions are every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Note: the program is designed for students who can commit to regularly attending both sessions each week. We cannot accommodate drop-ins.
NOTE: New sessions will not be held on the following Thursdays: Dec, 18, Dec 25, Jan 1. We will resume new sessions on Thursday, Jan 8, 2026.
No paddle? No problem! MVP provides loaner paddles and pickleballs. For your safety, we highly recommend wearing eye protection (sunglasses or safety glasses) and court shoes (such as pickleball or tennis shoes).

No advance notice or registration required to play. Just show up with a desire to have fun!
Good people. I always leave Tuesdays and Thursdays feeling great. Some of it is the Pickleball but I think it’s also the camaraderie. You’re all such a great group of people and I really enjoy being a part of the group.
